When love does not turn out the way you want it to

Photo by Radu Florin on Unsplash

If only it were that simple. You’d meet that one person who could always make you smile and who’d always do the things that pleased you. You’d find a soulmate who understands you inside out, and who never says a word that hurts you or irritates you.

But life doesn’t work that way. Love doesn’t work that way.

There would be times when the very person who showered you with love would be the same one who’d cause you…

Why forget that this is also a kind of love?

When I was in grade school, I had a best friend who gave me a certificate that testifies to our friendship. And while I’ve won many other certificates and medals for my academic achievements later, that certificate of friendship had a very special place in my heart. It signified that I was dear to someone, that I had a companion who acknowledged me as an important part of her life.

When I went to high school, however, things started to change so fast. I wasn’t with my childhood friends, cousins and neighbors anymore. I was with a group of people…

What’s the legacy you’d leave behind?

  1. Even the best of people will fail you. Don’t expect people to be like God.
  2. Forgive yourself and get up quickly after each fall. Let not your mistake bring you to despair, but towards the path of humility.
  3. Things will not always happen as planned, learn to be resilient. Do your best and let God’s beautiful plan for you unfold in His time.
  4. Worry is useless. We can never know what will happen next. Even if your worry comes true, remember that your worry never helped you at all. It just took away…

A lesson on letting go

There will always be a pain in saying “goodbye”

No matter how much we seem to understand everything, it breaks our hearts to ever see anything beautiful die.

It seems we weren’t really made for sad endings, and parting is hardly a word we recall when we enter into a relationship.

How do we know then when to say our goodbyes?

Should a relationship end even if you still love each other?

I used to think love is all we need to keep a relationship. It sounded so simple, so tested, and so romantic. But few of us dare try to answer these questions: What kind of love do we really need? What kind of love can make a…

There are certain methods we can use to investigate the existence of God

Is it really possible to love God like loving another person?

How can we even begin to love Someone we cannot even see? But if we say we can only love those whom we see, do we also say that the blind cannot love? If we say we can only love those whom we can hear, do we also say that the deaf cannot love as well? Yet we all know such things cannot be true. For all we know, those who cannot see or hear can love even far better than we do, for they rely not on such things to know a person well.

Ah, but some may argue…

Are you refraining from living your best life today?

Why not give it all? Why not give it all today? Is there some magic time where our best works and our best acts should be reserved for? Why wait for retirement? …

A brief reflection

Image by Joshua Choate from Pixabay

There is a pitfall in being a loving person. When we picture a loving person, we often picture someone who is selfless and self-sacrificing, someone who doesn’t care about what happens to him or to her if it means being able to love other people. We picture a person who has no worries being harmed for as long as one’s beloved is happy.

While it is important not to forget that love is unselfish, we should also remember that love does not mean neglecting to take care of oneself. Love is not a cruel thing that enslaves us and punishes…

You must never forget the reason why

If I were to be asked again what it is I’d like to do, I’d answer that I still want to write. O, there are so many things I’d like to share, so many things I’d like to write about.

People usually say I’m the quiet type of person, and perhaps it’s because they don’t see me talking so much.
